WizKids Unveils New Life-Sized Displacer Beast Kitten

D&D accessory maker WizKids has just revealed an unexpected (and extremely adorable) addition to its growing line of Dungeons & Dragons collectibles: a life-sized Displacer Beast Kitten. This new release reimagines one of D&D’s most iconic monsters as a cute and cuddly version that’s far more likely to steal your heart than your hit points. You can order your now from your local game store, Amazon and the WizKids website.

So just what can we expect from this tiny tentacled terror? Below, we break out out catnip and take a closer look.

What is the new life-sized Displacer Beast Kitten?

The new Displacer Beast Kitten Life-Sized Figure is exactly what it sounds like: a scaled-up, display-ready version of a baby displacer beast, brought to life as a collectible rather than a tabletop mini (which tends to be what WizKids is primarily known for). The figure is over 10.5 inches long , made from soft foam and individually hand-painted.

Notably, the figure is part of WizKids D&D Replica of the Realms, which are large format, life-sized foam sculptures of various iconic creatures from Dungeons & Dragons lore.

How much is WizKids’ Displacer Beast Kitten?

The new Displacer Beast Kitten is priced at $129.99 USD (not including shipping and handling). While this definitely isn’t cheap, the price feels very much in line with other similar figures we’ve seen from WizKids over the years, and makes sense given the quality of the materials, the time involved in hand-painting each figure and the sheer novelty of owning a “real” baby creature from the Monster Manual.

What are Displacer Beasts in D&D lore?

Displacer beasts are one of D&D’s most recognizable monsters and are known for their sleek panther-like bodies and writhing tentacles tipped with spiked barbs. Their most infamous ability is their innate magical distortion, which allows them to bend light to causes them to appear several feet away from their actual position, making them difficult to hit in combat.

In the lore, displacer beasts are cruelly intelligent predators that delight in tormenting prey before striking. They are often associated with the Underdark, shadowy forests, and the domains of dark fey or evil powers, and they’re rumored to have origins tied to extraplanar experimentation. Notably, a displacer beast also appeared in the 2023 Honor Among Thieves film.

Final thoughts

If you’re a longtime fan of classic D&D monsters, a collector of high-end fantasy décor, or just someone who wants the cutest apex predator in the multiverse perched on your shelf, this life-sized Displacer Beast Kitten is definitely going to be in your wheelhouse. Just remember: if it looks like it moved when you weren’t watching… that’s probably lore-accurate.

You can order yours now from your local game store, Amazon and the WizKids website.
